Anelto’s Telemedicine App Transforms Healthcare — Chetu
Anelto, an innovative leader in remote patient monitoring and personal safety technologies, is dedicated to its mission of helping seniors thrive by providing cutting-edge healthcare solutions that keep seniors connected to healthcare providers from anywhere. Anelto’s solutions are scalable for healthcare organizations of all sizes and were created by a team seeking a better solution for the ever-growing elderly population.
“We have a fully integrated approach and we want to add more system intelligence on our app beyond the standard processing of patient vitals and information. People think telemedicine is simply teleconferencing but there’s more to it. The goal is to have better patient monitoring, cost-avoidance, and a better overall quality of care that offers patients and providers real-time feedback,” said Anelto Programme Manager John Hurlbert.
Custom Application Facilitates Patient Independence
Anelto enlisted Chetu’s software experts to build an Android app for optimised telemedicine performance and communication. Telemedicine rose to prominence during the pandemic, but John Hurlbert maintains it continues receiving positive feedback from healthcare personnel and patients.
“I think telemedicine and this app facilitate patient independence. Giving patients a little control over the direction of their care is huge! This is their health, and taking ownership of their health improves outcomes,” said Hurlbert.
The Approach
The approach was to create and deploy a fully optimized telemedicine app providing a one-stop resource and creating a rich, end-user experience. Chetu’s expert-level software designers were fully integrated into the Anelto engineering team with regular ‘stand-up’ meetings and Jira workflow.
The custom app modules ensure all pertinent patient/provider information is easy to navigate and maintain regulatory compliance. Chetu added video tutorials on using medical resources, such as glucometers, to better assist patients.
“I was happy with the work because Chetu was able to get going quickly, which we appreciated. The biggest challenge on the device side was using our custom hardware but Chetu successfully worked through networking issues,” said Hurlbert.
Chetu’s custom app developers leveraged Kotlin, due to its efficiency and ability to be deployed seamlessly within Android-based projects. Chetu then utilised Model-View-Viewmodel (MVVM) to organise code into modules, which would be used to simplify any future required code developments or updates. Anelto provided Chetu existing app source codes from BitBucket.
The custom telemedicine app would enable patients to conveniently access providers and facilitate interoperability, eliminating delays in sharing pertinent data vital to creating and implementing patient care plans.
“We have our own clinicians on-staff and they have stated the app Chetu built is solving a lot of problems. We have customers that are looking forward to getting on this next generation platform,” said Hurlbert.
Robust App Broadens Healthcare’s Reach
Technology has augmented almost every industry, and during the pandemic’s height, our reliance on tech resources was magnified, especially when seeking vital healthcare services.
Telemedicine’s rise to prominence during the pandemic and its continued utilization reinforce the patient’s desire for a more personalized approach to care. Providers can develop more ‘patient-focused’ outcomes, and Chetu successfully helped Anelto achieve this goal by creating a robust telemedicine app.
“This app is a productivity tool for providers and I think they are able to take better care of patients because they see the most important data at the right time. I think this app optimizes interoperability and it can be versatile. I absolutely think this promotes a more engaging experience for patients and practitioners and it’s only going to grow. I would work with Chetu again,” said Hurlbert.
